Actions

Following an intensive review of its previous Strategy, the Fingal Development Board adopted on the 15th February 2006 a Revised Strategy.

The Revised Strategy will form the basis of the FDB's Work Programme for the period 2006-2008.

Set out below are the key actions adopted by the Board.

Fingal Integrated Transport Forum

To establish a new Fingal Integrated Transport Forum in 2006 to address the existing and future 'surface transport' problems impacting on Fingal and the Greater Dublin Area’s capacity, performance and future competitiveness.

Dublin Airport Stakeholders Forum

The Dublin Airport Stakeholders Forum will provide an effective forum for the discussion of all matters concerning the development and/or operation of the airport, that have an impact on users of the airport and on those living and working in the surrounding area. It will also act as a forum for how complaints are addressed

Invest Fingal

To set up an Economic Development Unit within Fingal County Council to enhance county performance and to further develop economic development within Fingal, working in partnership with key stakeholders

Fingal County Brand
To devise a County Brand focussed on people, place, prosperity and heritage.

Employment Assistant to Ethnic Minorities

A new range of responses will be devised to assist the Minority ethnic population to avoid long-term unemployment, re-skill and take opportunities for self-employment.

To develop a multi-agency awareness-training programme on Cultural Diversity will be offered to Employers and Community-based Organisations in Fingal

Translation Services to Ethnic Minorities

Ensure that translation services to Minority Ethnic Groups will be improved and costs reduced.

Development of a Disability Charter

To provide a baseline review of disability and access-related issues for all agencies operatin g in Fingal, leading to the development and use of a countywide Disability Charter.

Traveller Employment

Employment inequalities among Travellers will be addressed through revitalising the Traveller economy and identifying ways of mainstreaming employment opportunities

Review of Education Services and Supports in Fingal

To provide a baseline review of formal education services and specialised supports porvided in Fingal as the basis for the development of a countywide profile and strategy.

Health Stakeholders Forum

A Health Stakeholders Forum will be set up to improve co-ordination between the Local Health Office areas Dublin North West and Dublin North, local elected members, other State Agencies and the Community Sector.

Fingal Data Hub

A new set of statistical services, profiles and research support for organisations in the County will be delivered by a unit called the Fingal Data Hub

Joint Policing Countywide Committee

A joint Policing Countywide Committee will be set up subject to legislation and funding.

The Fingal Way

To develop a series of inter-linked walking trails collectively known as “The Fingal Way” incorporating coastal, historical, heritage, river and canal walks.

Planning for Community Gain

Pilot a 'Planning for Community Gain' approach to the development of Local Area Plans' whereby a more structural and interactive process informs the outcome.

Energy Project Team

Set up a project team to investigate rational energy use and renewable energy in the county.

Social Inclusion Monitoring Committee

This Committee is a major driver for equality and social inclusion and seeks to ensure that these principles are achieved across all aspects of the Board's work.
